Kaleb Shafer spent his childhood tinkering with toys; typically pulling them apart into many pieces (or breaking them) to form an understanding of how they worked. When he was 7 years old, his parents purchased their first family computer; a Gateway Desktop running Windows 98. The same concept applied to the new computer, he wanted to understand the inner-workings. Ever since then, computers have been a passion for him.
As Kaleb was growing up, he was often looked to by others for assistance with anything and everything computer related. At the age of 17, one of his friends helped him get a job at a local jewelry store. The owner’s of the store allowed him to get his hands dirty with multiple aspects of technology including web development, networking, system’s administrator, ADHOC app deployment, desktop support, & more. Even though the job had given him much opportunity to do what he loved, Kaleb decided to pursue a degree in IT.
In 2014, Kaleb graduated from Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, WI. with an Associate’s Degree in IT – Networking Specialist, but he didn’t stop there. He continued to pursue his education online earning several credits @ UW-Stout towards his Bachelors Degree in Information and Communication Technologies.
From 2014 to 2019 Kaleb worked in a small IT department for a global manufacturing company wearing several hats. He started out focusing mostly on help desk support and construction projects. By the time he left the company in 2019 he had done several new construction and renovation projects within the company. These projects included large amounts of low voltage cabling for Data, VoIP, Security Cameras, Integrated Paging Systems, & Door Access Control. He also spent a large amount of time focusing on Network & System Administration and Maintenance.
In 2017 Kaleb took on his first construction project outside of his day job. He enjoyed the project and the people so much that he decided to pursue making this his day job. In early 2019, he put in his notice to his previous employer. Since 2017 Kaleb and his team have taken on several projects for a wide range of local businesses in and around Rock County.
