SECURITY CAMERAS

Professionally installed security cameras are a valuable asset to the security of your business. There are many different types of cameras designed for different use cases. You can count on our expertise to choose and install the right security cameras for your business.

Continue reading below to look at some of the different types of security cameras and their range of features.

BULLET CAMERAS

A bullet camera is a type of video surveillance camera with the shape of a rifle bullet. Bullet security cameras are usually small (2 to 8 inches long) and the smaller ones are oftentimes referred to as lipstick cameras specially. Bullet IP cameras have a fixed or variable focal length lens with a strong point for specific spaces.

PTZ CAMERAS

PTZ or “pan-tilt-zoom” cameras are cameras that can be pointed and zoomed remotely. Ordinary security cameras can only view in the direction that they’re pointed in, and can’t be repositioned except by hand. This creates blind spots, places which the camera cannot view. PTZ cameras do not suffer from this deficit, as you can remotely position them.

The “pan” in PTZ means moving the camera from side to side. The “tilt” means moving the camera up and down. And last but not least, “zoom” means zooming the camera in and out.

FISHEYE CAMERAS

Fisheye Cameras are great for any retail environment. These cameras are capable of seeing between 180° and 360° depending on the camera. Each camera typically has between 2 & 4 cameras inside. The software then combines these individual cameras to give you that smooth 180° – 360° view.

Camera Resolutions

RESOLUTION

Not every security camera captures the same level of detail. We can install cameras ranging from 2MP (megapixels) to 8MP. A 2MP camera produces 1080P HD video, and an 8MP camera produces 4K UHD video.

For most use cases, a 2MP camera will be enough, but if you need something more — for capturing a lot of detail or for keeping an eye on smaller objects — a 4MP to 8MP camera would be more appropriate.

DAY/NIGHT OPERATION

During the day, or when there is light, a security camera captures video normally. But when it’s night, or when there is little to no light, the camera automatically switches to IR (infrared), allowing you to capture video in the dark.

The camera does this by shining it’s own infrared light (which completely invisible to the human eye) on the surveillance area, which it can then capture.
